The Doggy Cats play new American music. We are a six-piece brass band led by Tetsuro Hoshii. We started in New York City in 2015 and perform regularly at Sunny's Bar in Red Hook, Brooklyn—one of New York's most historic bars.
Our music is performed in a small room packed with about 25 people, so everyone can feel the energy of a live performance, a soulful and passionate brass band sound that gets the crowd moving.
We range widely in age from 20’s to 50’s. Just like at Sunny’s, where many different generations come together to enjoy the music.
Leader Tetsuro Hoshii is a pianist, composer and painter originally from Japan. He has collected many influences along the way—from New Orleans jazz to cartoons—resulting in an eclectic, non-classifiable new music of joy.
