Tetsuro Hoshii's First Exhibition
April 19 - Juny 5, 2018 at Sunny's Bar, Brookyln, NY
Acrylic modeling paste, wood, acrylic ink, polystyrene foam, soil, and various adhesives on wood panel
1510 cm × 122 cm (594 in × 48 in)
This piece is inspired by the Saturday bluegrass jam sessions at Sunny’s Bar.
When I joined the bluegrass session at Sunny’s for the first time, I felt strangely cozy, like you’re just drunk enough to sit there without disturbing the musicians, but still wanting to be part of the circle. Then I realized that this music isn’t exactly bluegrass. This is American music. Wait, this is “music.” Wait, this is a culture!
Wait...this is actually about being human. The type of music doesn’t really matter, as long as you are respectful, careful, and honest.
